Christmas Early Morning House Fire Assist in Wimmerton Section of Unity Township

PUVFD was activated at 1:17 AM early Christmas morning to assist Lloydsville VFD with a house fire on Glacier Court in the Wimmerton area of Unity Township. An officer from Lloydsville VFD was on scene quickly confirming a well involved working house fire. Crews from PUVFD threw ladders on all sides of the building and then assisted with fire suppression and overhaul. The house was unoccupied and there were no injuries. Also assisting Lloydsville were fire units from Youngstown, Marguerite, Latrobe, Whitney-Hostetter, Trauger, Crabtree, Bradenville, Dryridge and Mutual.

PUVFD was activated at 9:16 AM this morning for a two vehicle accident on Route 130 at Pleasant Unity Mutual Road near the Pleasant Unity Sewage Treatment Plant. Arriving firefighters found two vehicles had collided at the intersection and one driver required medical treatment.

Junior Firefighters are needed!! The fire companies that comprise the Unity Township Fire Bureau have initiated a Junior Firefighter Recruitment Campaign at the Greater Latrobe Senior High School.
