In an effort to raise some much needed funds for the Pleasant Unity Volunteer Fire Department our members hosted our first "hybrid" drive-through/online raffle at the station this evening. All "in-person" fundraising events have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as we are unable to host traditional fundraising events with the restrictions that are in place for group gatherings.
Tonight we held our first raffle of a YETI tundra cooler and package that included several YETI tumblers, mugs, can holders and bottles. Firefighters set up a "drive through" ticket sales in the parking lot of the fire station from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm for people in the community to stop by and purchase tickets then at 7:00 pm sold the remaining tickets on line from the PLEASANT UNITY VFD facebook page. After a slight glitch with the getting the online payment system to work properly all remaining tickets were sold.
The winning number 46 was drawn on Facebook LIVE and the winner was Lenny Mohan of Unity Township who came to the station to pick up his prizes. Congratulations to Lenny and thank you to him and everyone who purchased tips for tonight's raffle.
We hope to continue these raffles on a regular basis to help us with raising funds to support your local volunteer fire department. The next raffle will be held the same way next Monday but the prize will be $600.00 worth of PA Lottery instant tickets!!!! Keep an eye on the website for future drawing announcements and be sure to "Like" our facebook page. If you're not on Facebook - that's okay, we will sell tips again at the station from 6:00 to 7:00 PM next Monday.
